This is the Pine Ridge(id) Chopper. It is a half scale model made entirely from white and select pine. All the hand, thumb, and foot controls work including the kick starter, the oil dipstick reads full, the ignition switch turns with its key, and the chain turns on its sprocket. The model weighs 40 pounds, is 62 inches in overall length and 29 inches overall height. The model represents all the major components with many details, but most of the uglies such as the convoluted mounting brackets found on actual motorcycles were omitted.
I have the model hanging from my ceiling on a cable, making it easy to swing it around to view the other side every so often. The buyer can have the suspension system with the model. It also comes with its own shop manual, which is a little brochure I made primarily to show how to change the rubber bands that provide spring tension for some of the moving parts.
If you would like me to replicate a particular motorcycle, it would be most helpful to have its factory manual, and to have that motorcycle in my garage for a few months, maybe during the winter. Most of my art is based on observation – I can only include the details that I can see and notice.
Please stop in to see this thing, and share pictures with anyone who would get a kick out of it.
